Installing and Troubleshooting WordPress
Installing the WordPress Plugin
To install your Campaign on to your WordPress page, please start by creating a campaign, making sure to use the correct domain name for your WordPress website.
Next, select the "gear" icon next to the title of the Campaign you would like to install on your WordPress site. Select "View Details" from the drop-down menu.
You will be brought to the details of your campaign, scroll to the bottom of this page to find the WordPress Plugin.
It is suggested that you watch the "Tutorial" for more detailed instruction on how to install the WordPress Plugin.
We have also included step by step instructions here:
Select "DOWNLOAD WORDPRESS PLUGIN" to begin. This will download a zip file to your computer containing the Plugin. The file will be named push-connect-notify-(yourcampaignname).zip. Make sure to store this file in a place you can easily access it.
Please Note: There is no need to open this Zip file or extract anything from it.
Next, login to your WordPress blog and hover your mouse over the "Plugins" button then select "Add New" from the drop-down menu.
You will be brought to the "Add Plugins" page, here you will need to click "Upload Plugin".
Next, you will need to browse and select the .zip that you downloaded initially and upload it.
Once the upload is complete, you can check to make sure it installed correctly by visiting the
"Plugins" Page. You should see the Push Connect Notify plugin listed, like below:
If you would like to change where the pop-up shows, you will need to click the "Settings" link underneath the title of the plugin. You will then see a page where you can designate the pop-up to show on All pages or on a specific page.
Please Note: If you would like to have the notification appear on posts, you will need to embed the code into those specific posts manually.
Installing the Embed Code
First, navigate to the campaign that you would like to embed, select the "gear" icon and click "Embed Code" or select the "Embed Code" button from inside the Campaign's details page to get started.
Once you click the "Embed Code" button of your choice a pop-up will appear with the <script> code to paste into your blog! Click "Copy to clipboard" to save it.
Then navigate to your WordPress site. You will then need to select "Editor" from underneath the "Appearance" tab.
On the far right-hand side of the "Editor", you will see a list of files. You will need to look for the <body> or <body class=.....> tag. It is suggested you look in the index.php file first, then the header.php file, and lastly the footer.php file.
Once you find the <body> tag in one of these files you will need to paste the code underneath it. Make sure you paste it after the '>' closing of the tag.
Click Save, then check out your site. You should see the pop-up on the main page of your web page.
If you would like to put it on every page or in a post, you will need to paste the <script> code into each of the "Pages"/"Posts" text editors, like so:
If you have installed the plugin, but are not seeing the notification, interference with your theme or with other plugins is most likely the cause.
Please try disabling other plugins. If the issue still occurs, then the theme may be the cause.
Inside of WordPress, there are certain themes that run specific scripts, and securities that cause Push Connect Notify to not work properly. We can not resolve this on our end, as it seems to be an occurrence with any type of notification program. The only way to resolve the interference is to ultimately change the theme of the WordPress site.
It also may be helpful to install the embed code manually to WordPress Blog. Please see the section above for instruction on how to Install the Embed Code.
